Native Plant Habitat

One of the three entrance gardens at Plantworks has officially been certified as a Native Plant Habitat! In an effort to continue growing our native plant selection, this garden is used both to display existing natives and trial new ones. The other two gardens display a mix of both natives, non-natives and a gorgeous new archway. Please take a look next time you're here!

Best Grasses for Fall & Winter

Ornamental grasses and their shade-loving cousins, sedges, are the easiest way to keep a garden lively from November through March. Grasses stay standing in shades of wheat, copper and bronze, while many sedges stay green all winter. Together they catch low winter light, sway in the wind and hold frost and snow like sculpture. If your winter beds look like a blank page, grasses and sedges are the fix.
